Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and the UNC School of Medicine’s new Primary Care Rural Advancement Program will increase patient-centered primary care in Rockingham County
In 2012, only 44 primary care physicians served North Carolina’s Rockingham County — approximately 4.7 per 10,000 residents, the lowest rate in the state — according to the 2016 Rockingham County Community Health Assessment Report.
An $800,00 gift from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and the UNC School of Medicine’s new Primary Care Rural Advancement Program will increase patient-centered primary care and recruit more residents to enter healthcare professions in the county and the neighboring area.
