The University of the People — these iconic words describe the foundation of Carolina’s mission. We are proud to be the first public University in the country and even more proud to serve the residents of North Carolina.

Central to our mission “to enhance the quality of life for all people in the state,” the initiatives marked on this map illustrate many of the ways — made possible by public and private support — that Carolina makes an impact through research, scholarship and innovation to serve North Carolinians, from the mountains to the coast.
