Sam Welborn ’71 knows what it’s like to come to Chapel Hill after serving in a war zone. That’s why he and his wife Sandy Welborn made a gift that enabled UNC to hire a Student Veterans Assistance Coordinator. Their gift came just as the number of student-veterans at UNC has grown to its largest size ever since World War II.
