2020 Pavel Mochanov Scholar, Emma Calhoun
With the restrictions of the pandemic, access to career exploration and development opportunities are extremely limited.
Despite limitations, the 2020 Pavel Molchanov Scholars at Carolina were able to work with organizations to adapt to new guidelines and standards and formulate an enriching internship experience. Funded by a $1 million gift from Pavel Molchanov, a director and equity research analyst at Raymond James & Associates, the program matches undergraduate students with environmental internships where students can supplement their academic work with experiential, professional training.
The scholars, Emma Calhoun, Natalie Gauger, Noah Shaner, Rebecca Williams and Amelia Woodall, are each exploring a unique aspect of environmental studies, from urban planning to policy. The internships they experienced this past summer through the scholars program allowed them to gain real world experience pertaining to their studies.
