A day for community

“We had a great day helping Habitat, and it was fun to see so many student-athletes from so many teams join together and contribute. I think it’s important for our program to always be involved in community projects like this.”

UNC football coach Larry Fedora was the first to suggest a large-scale day of service for Carolina Athletics. And on a Saturday morning in July 2016, more than 100 student-athletes, coaches and staff members—representing 12 teams—showed up to the first designated Day of Service, helping out at two Habitat for Humanity building sites. It marked the largest group Orange County Habitat for Humanity has hosted in its 30-year history.
