A Current Future

"This space, this activity is one of a kind..."

“This space, this venue, this activity is one of a kind,” Special Assistant to the Chancellor for the Arts Emil Kang said. “This is a place where we will build community through the arts.”

CURRENT ArtSpace + Studio, located in Carolina Square, is the latest project for the Arts Everywhere initiative and will provide space for art that doesn’t fit in the theater or concert hall.

Designed with the audience in mind, CURRENT takes away barriers by allowing interaction with the artwork. The multipurpose space also allows for rehearsals, events and performances.

CURRENT’s grand opening installation, “Sound Maze,” gave audiences a glimpse at what’s ahead and a hands-on art experience with large scale musical instruments created by Paul Dresher.
