Although our endowment traditionally provides the University with a relatively steady stream of income for scholarships, professorships and other support, most endowment money is slated for specific purposes.
The Carolina Fund gives us the freedom to use your gift to make the biggest impact possible, as well as weather the ebb and flow of state funding, tuition income and federal grants. And also unlike endowment gifts, which must first be invested before they can generate funding, gifts to The Carolina Fund can be put to use right away.
Gifts to The Carolina Fund provide:
- Student scholarships to ensure that the University can continue our commitment to access and affordability and give our Office of Scholarships and Student Aid the flexibility to use your generosity when and where it’s needed most.
- Faculty resources to recruit and retain premier professors whose teaching and research boost the University’s quality, stature and service.
- Funds to bring outstanding artistic works and talented artists or performers to campus, in both the visual and performing arts.
Gifts to The Carolina Fund support the University’s strategic goals
Gifts to The Carolina Fund count in For All Kind: the Campaign for Carolina, which is leading public higher education with the strongest campaign momentum in the Southeast and among the strongest in the country. The campaign is inspired by The Blueprint for Next, the University’s overall strategic plan built on two core strategies: “of the public, for the public,” and “innovation made fundamental.” Meeting our annual $3 million goal for The Carolina Fund will speak to the essence of that inspiration.
