After Ebola struck West Africa in 2014–2015, public officials from Liberia turned to the UNC School of Government to find better ways of controlling epidemics and preventing them from happening in the future. Francis Kateh, chief medical officer for the Liberia Ministry of Health, contacted Professor Aimee Wall to organize training for officials and new employees as well as help draft new health legislation and develop proper training for new employees. Because of the leadership relationship that Kateh and Wall have fostered, the Liberian government is better prepared to plan and act and perhaps prevent the next outbreak.
