Opening ceremony uniforms aside, the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, were a memorable experience for UNC men’s basketball coach Roy Williams. He helped the U.S. basketball squad—coached by Larry Brown ’63—to a bronze medal. He cheered on U.S. gymnast Paul Hamm as he took gold. And he drew inspiration from the athleticism and focus of runners competing in the 100-meter dash.
