After noticing trash cans across campus overflowing with plastic cups after events, UNC Kenan-Flagler undergraduate Deanna MacCormac ’17 was determined to find a more eco-friendly solution.

Coincidentally, Patrick Lowery ’16, Lisa Dunleavy ’17, Asher Lipsitz ’16 and Ben Director ’16 were contemplating how to use the same cups as a platform for addressing sexual assault.

It didn’t take long to realize they were onto something: a combined effort to create conscious change. In 2015, Carolina Conscious cups were birthed.
