Donna Sorgi ’69 has dedicated her life and career to serving others, beginning with her first job at the John F. Kennedy Family Service Center. That drive to serve, to approach the world in a principled and committed way, and to help others was rooted in Carolina professor Ruel Tyson’s classroom.
Sorgi went on to earn a law degree and continue to serve others, first at the Attorney General of Massachusetts office and later as senior associate corporation counsel for the City of Boston. It was with the City of Boston that she worked to bring broadband to inner city parents and children, seniors and unemployed adults in low-income neighborhoods.

Sorgi and her husband, David Bernstein, have chosen to create their Carolina legacy through a planned gift to the Institute for the Arts and Humanities—an institute which Professor Ruel W. Tyson, Jr. helped found.
