Ann Sam — an advanced research scientist at UNC’s Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute — and her team are taking the guesswork out of what works best for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

The Autism Focused Intervention Resources and Modules (AFIRM) project translated 27 evidence-based practices identified by the National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorder into free online learning modules to enhance learning and produce positive developmental outcomes.

The project has an impressive global reach — nine million pageviews from 80,000 users in 170 countries.
