Larry Han ’16 came to Carolina on a Morehead-Cain ScholarshipOpens in new window. Matthew Leming ’15, ’16 (M.S.) graduated debt-free from UNC because of the Carolina CovenantOpens in new window. Now, both will pursue graduate educations as Gates Cambridge Scholars at the University of Cambridge in England.
They bring Carolina’s Gates Cambridge Scholars total to five and are the first duo from UNC to earn the honor in the same year; 35 scholars were chosen from 826 U.S. applicants.

With an anonymous donor gift of $20 million and a challenge to the Carolina community to raise $20 million, the Give for Good: Scholarship ChallengeOpens in new window will provide a total of $40 million to support the Carolina Covenant and Morehead-Cain Scholarships, helping us to welcome students like Larry and Matt to the Carolina campus.
