Standout Students: Christopher Brown ’17

We continue to remain in awe of what our students accomplish during their time at Carolina Law.

We continue to remain in awe of what our students accomplish during their time at Carolina Law. They thrive in our student organizations as well as our experiential programs and Christopher Brown ’17 is one student who stood out. In addition to the rigorous coursework at Carolina Law, Brown dedicated hours of his time to several community projects through our clinical programs.

Recognized for his work through our Community Development Law Clinic, a two-semester clinic in which third-year students provide corporate and transactional counsel to North Carolina nonprofits, Brown received the Clinical Legal Education Association (CLEA) Outstanding Student Award – an esteemed honor for students at Carolina Law. Chris also worked as a research assistant for our Immigration Clinic and Civil Legal Assistance Clinic.

“Chris was a lifeline for one of his clients for several years – driving out there in Fayetteville when the clinic students working there didn’t feel like they had the time, taking his client to doctor’s appointments, and taking her, her mother who was suffering from dementia and her dog to the vet for free care,” Beth Posner, clinical assistant professor, said. Each professor who worked with Brown in our clinical program was impressed with how he went the extra mile, taking on complex work to help clients in need.
