World-changing crises demand world-class solutions. Carolina Law and The Duke Energy Foundation have partnered to expand Carolina Law’s Center for Climate, Energy, Environment and Economics (CE3), the nation’s first law and policy center specifically devoted to the intersection of climate, energy law, environmental law and economic development. The foundation’s support enables the center to add staff, new courses and scholarships, providing a significant boost in resources.

“With the quickly evolving energy landscape, it’s critical that law students and attorneys are prepared to balance emerging climate, energy and environmental issues with economic competitiveness,” said David Fountain ‘94, Duke Energy’s North Carolina president. “This requires a collaborative approach.”

The center brings together government agencies, businesses and communities to help shape future policy and address these fast-changing shifts. Because of the center’s work, law students and attorneys gain invaluable real-world experience in how those policies intersect, and the world will benefit from a multi-faceted approach to solving rapidly developing issues.
