Jada Harkins Andrews ’18 says Carolina has taught her about who she is as a person. In the classroom, she gained knowledge about broadcast journalism ad political science. Outside of the classroom, she was a member of the Black Student Movement and a dance group. She was an adviser to incoming first-year students. And she conducted her own research in political communication.
“There’s this thing about Carolina — it’s just a feeling of home, and I can’t really describe it, but when you come here, you feel it.”
After graduating in May 2018, she will take her experiences to George Washington University, where she will pursue a master’s degree in media and strategic communication.

Andrews was a Ronald E. McNair Scholar — a program funded by the U.S. Department of Education designed to prepare undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities.
