Whether they’re aiming to help rural North Carolinians access quality health care, or design transportation systems of the future, or examine the planet’s geological past, Carolina’s graduate students are diving deep into their area of study. Private support – mostly in the form of fellowships – allows them to spend the crucial years of graduate school doing that work, and emerge without career-limiting debt.
