“Before the Shuford Program, I wasn’t doing that well academically, but Bernard helped me change my mindset about school and helped me get a 3.1 GPA,” said Madrid K. Danner-Smith ’18. “I’m a first-generation student. He’s black, a UNC grad and one of the first black entrepreneurs I’ve ever met. He’s one of the few people I can really depend on, and I look up to him.”

Bernard Bell ’82 ’91 (M.B.A.) is the executive director of the Shuford Program in Entrepreneurship.
